Pecan Dream Boats- plant based, zero waste, no added sugar

These are the perfect candy-like treat to enjoy this Halloween or anytime you want something delicious and nutritious AND want to avoid single-use plastic packaging.

Let’s talk about the health benefits of this recipe:

Dates contain essential nutrients, including potassium, magnesium, and even some protein. They’re naturally sweet and are bundled with fiber and antioxidants that support overall health. (There are even studies showing that consuming dates during your last trimester of pregnancy is beneficial for labor!).

Pecan butter is the most indulgent of the nut butters, in my opinion! My favorite is from Georgia Grinders (use code ABBYSFOODCOURT20 for 20% off). Pecans contain heathy fats, fiber, and plant based protein.

Cinnamon isn’t just a delicious, warming spice. It also contains health-promoting properties. Studies show that consuming cinnamon helps regulate blood sugar. So, consuming it with higher sugar foods (like dates) helps to control the natural rise in blood sugar experienced post-consumption.

This recipe is super quick to pull together AND if you buy the dates from your bulk section or from Sun & Swell and use pecan butter and cinnamon in glass containers, it’s a zero waste recipe.
